Cover tweaking and branding....

Thanks to the talented [livejournal.com profile] lrcutter we have done a "final for a while" cover branding and tweaking to the Nuala covers. Here are the results. Can you see the differences? Hope you like them.

Next--figuring out the right cover art for the Alfreda ebooks and POD (or POD if I can master the technique.)

I can see it, and I like it. Less pink! Stronger lettering! Rah! to Leah and you!

Glad you like them. We tried vivid, but I saw no difference in sales. So one more time with these. They're such great SF covers, I would hate to jettison them.

Did you notice that she swapped the side the sun is setting on?

I hope this means that a right side sunset is leading into the future and sales! ;^)

At this point I think you've done all you can with covers. What's going to count is getting new work out there to draw readers into your oeuvre.

A new Nuala book would doubtless spur sales of these three.

BTW, how do you pronounce it -- Noola (as in the Irish name) or Noo-ah-la?

This is one of those things where sales haven't been quite good enough to justify another novel when I have other things to write. (I've heard that for SF backlist they aren't bad, for a midlist writer. But I still hope to write something that pays the bills, so...) But I did decide to do a short thing, establishing a character that would be in a third Darame book, if that ever happened--over 10,000 words so far. Hope to finish it and the third Allie during Clarion West's Write-a-thon!

And pronunciation varies depending on which part of Nuala you reside! In Amura/Amura-by-the-Sea it tends to be Noo-ah-la. All those foreigners saying the word. More Gaelic in the mountains and deserts.
